It is in charge of recognizing and eliminating viruses, and other pathogenic microorganisms that may cause diseases. Sometimes, our immune system alone is not enough to protect us from certain microorganisms; and that is the reason we get sick. This is when we need medicine to relieve the symptoms and tackle the disease. Also, we can prevent many diseases (viruses) thanks to vaccines which prepare our immune system.
